Zesterdaily about Muscadet
France’s famous valley is still tops when it comes to wine diversity and quality said Rosemary George after her Loire tour and visit at LIEUBEAU Vigneron. Speaking about Muscadet : “However, there are growers working hard to raise its reputation. Take Domaine de la Fruitière, now the property of Pierre Lieubeau with a talented winemaker, Nicolas Ganichaud. Tasting with them certainly made me look at Muscadet with new eyes. An élevage on the fine lees adds fruit and stony minerality and above all, depth of flavor. And they even proved that Muscadet could age, with a 2007 Château-Thébaud, one of the new crus of Muscadet, which surprised me with its complexity.”

The Guardian – The 20 best Christmas white wines
Here are the 20 best Christmas whites selected by the Guardian.
Domaine de la Fruitière Chardonnay Sauvignon, Vin de Pays du Val de Loire, France 2010 (£5.99, sold at Waitrose)
Chardonnay and sauvignon blanc – two grape varieties with strong and not necessarily complementary personalities – aren’t blended together all that often, but they get along just fine here. This is a graceful and zippily fresh white full of citrus and tropical fruit flavours.

Bottling vintage 2010
The bottling of Muscadet S&M sur lie and Vins de pays vintage 2010 has just started, as well as Cuvées M 2009, Cru Chateau Thébaud Aulnaye 2007, Magnolia de Nantes 2010.
The 2010 vintage is one of the best of the decade in the Nantes vineyards, at the end of Loire Valley because of the optimal weather. This vintage was characterized by low rainfall and sunshine above average, as was 2009, but even at a higher level. Temperatures remained relatively cool unlike 2003 for instance, which allowed us to obtain an advanced maturity by keeping the acidity and thus the freshness in the wines. The wines from the Nantes region are compared with those of the 2005 vintage. They are expressive, rich, very well-balanced. To conclude, vintages such as 2009, 2010 or 2005 are a great opportunity for our vineyards and wines today and in the future…
